Frequently asked

The questions we get most

If yours is not here, call or text us, we answer fast.

Do you provide free quotes?

Always. We come out to see your property, talk through what you want, and you get a detailed written quote. No fee, no obligation.

What areas do you serve?

Laval and the North Shore first, so Sainte-Thérèse, Boisbriand, Rosemère, Blainville, Mirabel, Saint-Eustache, Deux-Montagnes and Terrebonne. We also cover Greater Montreal depending on project size.

How soon can work start?

It depends on the season. Spring and fall are our busiest stretches. Call early and we give you a realistic schedule right in the quote, not a date pulled out of thin air.

Are you insured?

Yes, we carry $2M liability insurance. We provide proof on request, before any work begins.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes, a written warranty on our work. Not a handshake, it is spelled out in your contract.

What payment methods do you accept?

Mainly Interac e-transfer, and cheques. We set a clear payment schedule up front, with no surprise amount at the end.

Do you clean up afterward?

Always. The site is left clean, surfaces swept and debris hauled away. We do not consider a job finished until it is.

Can I buy equipment without hiring you for work?

Yes, for ground protection mats. We sell and rent them, delivered if needed, and you do not have to be a work client to order some. Call us or go through the Contact page.

Do I need to be there during the work?

No. We need you at the start, for the meeting and the survey, and at the end for the walkthrough together. In between, you can go to work. If a decision comes up mid-job, we call you before making it for you.

Who calls in the utility locate before digging?

We do. Before any excavation, a locate request for underground infrastructure has to be filed with Info-Excavation. It is free and takes a few business days. That is one reason we never dig the day after a phone call. If you have private installations the service cannot see, like an irrigation system, an invisible dog fence, or a line to a spa or shed, tell us, those are not on the public plans.

Do I need a permit from the City?

It depends on the project and your city. Widening a driveway or altering a curb cut generally requires municipal authorization. So do retaining walls, and in Laval that applies regardless of height. A straight like-for-like replacement usually does not. We go over it with you at quote time and tell you plainly what is needed, before we start.

What happens to my date if it rains?

We do not lay pavers or sod in mud, the result would be poor and you would see it two years later. Heavy rain pushes the job, usually by a few days. We tell you as soon as we know, we do not leave you waiting for a truck that is not coming.

Where does the soil and old material go?

We haul it away, and that is included in the quote unless stated otherwise in writing. You do not end up with a mountain of old asphalt at the back of the yard. If you want to keep some soil for your flower beds, say so and we leave you a pile wherever you want it.

Do the estimator prices include taxes?

No, the amounts are before taxes. The estimator gives an order of magnitude for normal site conditions. There is also a minimum billing amount for small areas, roughly $900 to $3,000 depending on the type of work, because moving the equipment and the crew costs the same for 100 square feet as for 500. The firm price comes with the written quote, after the visit.

How does payment work?

A 25 % deposit on booking, which locks your date in the calendar, and the balance at the end once you have walked the job with us and you are satisfied. Never full payment up front.

What if you damage something on my property?

We use ground protection mats specifically to avoid that, and we pick the machine to suit the access rather than forcing the biggest one in. If damage happens anyway, we fix it, that is what our $2M liability insurance is for. And we tell you ourselves if it happens, you will not discover it after we leave.

How wide does the access to my yard need to be?

The Kubota U25 excavator fits through 5 feet, the SVL65-2 loader through 6 feet. Below that, we have a mini loader that fits through narrow gates, and part of the work can be done by hand. Measure the tightest passage between the street and the work area, gate and house corner included, and give us the number, it changes how we plan the job.

Do you work in winter?

Paver, asphalt and sod work runs from the end of thaw until the fall freeze. In winter we take quotes and fill the spring calendar. Calling in January or February is not too early, it is the best time to get the spring date you want.
